A few years back a friend of mine encouraged me to start a blog. It took several friendly nudges from him, but I finally started this one through WordPress. I began writing it as a way to capture my journey in planting The Eastside Vineyard Church as well as to share insights from Bible passages and Christian books I am reading.
I published my very first post on July 15, 2010.
Here is what is crazy. Today, my blog received its 20,000th hit! I never dreamed I’d reach that milestone when I began writing it.
And here’s something that’s even crazier. I received an e-mail from WordPress saying people from 88 different countries around the world read at least one post from it in 2012. Countries including Australia, India, the Czech Republic, the Bahamas, Nigeria, Thailand, Poland, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, and France. I am pretty bad at world geography so I don’t know the total number of countries that there are around the world, but 88 is a bunch of ‘em!
Thanks to all of you who read this blog and have shared it with others. Thanks to WordPress for offering the world a free way to blog. And a special thanks to Don Mencke — he was the friend I mentioned up front who nudged me to begin this blog and he has continued to encourage me over the past 2 1/2 years.
You keep reading and I’ll keep writing.
***Please join us this Sunday at The Eastside Vineyard Church. We’ll be continuing our verse-by-verse look at the gospel of Matthew. This week continues our journey into chapter 19, a sermon titled The Little Are Big. Come hungry! January 13. 10:30am. More info at tevchurch.org***
Congrats on hit 20000 and reaching so many countries with God’s word.
Dan!! You made it to 20,000 hits! Incredible! Goal for 2013 – write a book! I will be encouraging and praying for you to do this as it has been on my heart to mention this!! I am so blessed to call you a friend. A true man of God you are. Thank you for sharing your talents with all us!!
Don Mencke
thanks Don! If I end up writing a book, do you happen to know of any publishers? 🙂
Your keen observations and honed words are made precious by your heart for God. It is awesome to hear how God is multiplying your ministry through this blog. Keep ’em coming!
thanks so much Julie!
